The twin jewellery shows, Hong Kong International Diamond, Gem & Pearl Show and the Hong Kong International Jewellery Show, both organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC). Together with Diamond, Gem & Pearl Show forms world’s largest jewellery marketplace, the show presents a diverse array of finished jewellery, from the rarest and most luxurious to the exclusive collections of internationally renowned brands, as well as works from emerging designers, amber jewellery and wedding jewellery, and continue to form the world’s largest jewellery marketplace.

The HKTDC continues to adopt a “Two Shows, Two Venues” arrangement, to showcase various types of jewellery raw materials including loose diamonds, precious stones, semi-precious stones and pearls. The twin-show format provides exhibitors and buyers with a highly effective platform to connect with potential business partners.

By bringing together exhibitors from all corners of the world and showcasing the finest jewellery and jewellery raw materials, the two HKTDC shows serve not only as a one-stop promotion and sourcing platform for the industry, but also make Hong Kong a top jewellery trading and sourcing hub for buyers globally.

Every year the Jewellery Show features a broad range of activities and events aimed at providing more information to industry players at the same time as offering an opportunity for participants to network and exchange ideas. The shows deliver an all-rounded programme of jewellery, seminars, buyer forums and networking events that bring trending market intelligence to industry players.

To promote local craftsmanship and creativity, the HKTDC joins hands with Hong Kong Jewellers’ & Goldsmiths’ Association, Hong Kong Jewellery & Jade Manufacturers Association, Hong Kong Jewelry Manufacturers’ Association and Diamond Federation of Hong Kong to organise the Hong Kong Jewellery Design Competition.

As the world’s largest jewellery marketplace, the HKTDC Hong Kong International Jewellery Show and the HKTDC Hong Kong International Diamond, Gem & Pearl Show are superb platforms for maximising buyers’ sourcing opportunities and expanding exhibitors’ business.

In its 2015 edition, the two fairs attracted over 4,360 exhibitors from 52 countries and regions, and welcomed 76,000 visitors from 140 countries and regions, setting a new record. Around 4,400 exhibitors gather at the twin shows in 2016, with over 30 pavilions set up to strengthen its position as the world’s largest international jewellery marketplace.

Presence of the international group pavilions proves again the global influence of the two shows, the line-up includes Brazil, the Chinese mainland, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Korea, Myanmar, Singapore, Spain, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Turkey, and the United States etc. The France Pavilion will be making its first debut at the Jewellery Show.

The Jewellery Show features eight themed zones for key market segments to meet buyers’ needs and targets. Hall of Fame brings together top-tier international brand names in a prestigious and elegant setting. Hall of Extraordinary is an elite section exclusively for high-end fine jewellery pieces. World of Glamour highlights the expertise in jewellery manufacturing of Hong Kong-based exhibitors. Antique & Vintage Jewellery Galleria showcases the glamour of classic jewellery from bygone times. Treasures of Craftsmanship features carvings from precious/semi-precious stones, gold or silver decorative items, precious ornaments and jewelled accessories. Tanzanite Foundation will also set up pavilion of its own at Diamond, Gem & Pearl Show. The two fairs gather altogether 34 group pavilions.

Wedding Bijoux and T-GOLD+ METS pavilion are making their debut this year. The former is specially designed for a stunning range of bridal jewellery. Co-organised by HKTDC, HKJJA and Fiera di Vicenza, T-GOLD + METS pavilion will feature international professional jewellery and watch making machinery, equipment, technology and supplies.

Among today’s highlights of the Jewellery Show is the launch of a new Natural Diamond Quality Assurance Mark (NDQA). This initiative of the Diamond Federation of Hong Kong (DFHK) aims to maintain Hong Kong’s reputation as an international diamond trading hub for both traders and consumers. Participants of the scheme are committed to not selling man-made or synthetic diamonds or any other non-natural diamonds of a similar nature.

A variety of stunning finished pieces are on display at the Jewellery Show with a number of designs inspired by the beauty of nature. Shining examples include a ring featuring yellow diamonds to depict Vincent Van Gogh’s Sunflowers masterpiece, while a jadeite collection takes its prompt from a traditional Chinese painting of a pine tree, complete with diamond leaves and sapphire fruit designs. Among the many other eye-catching products on display are “The Bridges of New York”, a collection of 12 pieces inspired by iconic New York landmarks.

In Diamond, Gem & Pearl Show, Hall of Fine Diamonds shows carat-size loose diamonds to best advantage as well as provides a discreet trading ambience. Treasures of Nature features a rich source of precious stones in many different cuts. Treasures of Ocean features a wide variety of quality pearls.

Most exhibitors said Hong Kong’s position as an international jewellery trading hub helps them enter Asian markets. Buyers from the United States have continued to surge. The purchasing power of the emerging markets should also not be ignored.

This year, the Diamond, Gem & Pearl Show introduced the new “Treasures of Ocean” zone to showcase exquisite pearls. As well as pearls featured at the Australia pavilion, its opals were also very well received.

During the Jewellery Show there are a range of jewellery, networking events and trade forums. These include “World of Glamour” Mini Parade and the “Hall of Time” Mini Parade on 8 March. Two seminars; “The Secret of Top-Class Jewellery Designers” and “The Development of Platinum Jewellery in Japan and the World”. The seminar on “Achieving Global Success in Jewellery E-tailing Market” takes place on 6 March.

The IJDE Award is organised by HKTDC and co-organised by the Hong Kong Jewellers’ & Goldsmiths’ Association, Hong Kong Jewellery & Jade Manufacturers Association, Hong Kong Jewelry Manufacturers’ Association and Diamond Federation of Hong Kong, China Ltd. since 2009. The winning entries were displayed at Hall 1D concourse during the Hong Kong International Jewellery Show.

The 32nd edition of Hong Kong International Jewellery Show and the 2nd edition of the Hong Kong International Diamond, Gem & Pearls Show became the world’s largest jewellery marketplace, which attracted 52 countries and regions with more than 4,360 exhibitors this year, breaking a high record.

The biennial IJDE Award creates a platform to honour creative and eminent jewellery designers from around the world, and provides an opportunity for international jewellery designers to exchange experiences, expertise and craftsmanship in competing for the highest honour – Champion of the Champions. Russian designer Timofey TEPLINSKIY’s ring design “Existence” surpassed other international competitors, and won the “Champion of Champions” and “Aesthetic Award”.

The Jewellery Show, which spotlights finished jewellery collections from all over the world, is part of the “two shows, two venues” arrangement, created this year by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) to meet growing demand from exhibitors. The inaugural HKTDC Hong Kong International Diamond, Gem & Pearl Show opened on Monday and continues through 7 March at AsiaWorld-Expo. The new show features loose stones and raw material for jewellery.

Together, the two fairs have attracted more than 3,850 exhibitors from 53 countries and regions, including new countries Brunei, Norway and Portugal, and 16 group pavilions, four of which are new to the fair: Indonesia, Peru, South Africa and the United Kingdom. Four trade organisation pavilions are also participating: the Israel Export & International Cooperation Institute, the Japan Jewellery Association, the Platinum Guild International, and T-Gold International.

Fair highlights include seven product zones: Hall of Fame, showcasing international brands; Hall of Extraordinary, presenting prestigious jewellery; World of Glamour, offering fine jewellery from Hong Kong-based exhibitors; the Antique & Vintage Jewellery Galleria, featuring vintage jewellery; Designer Galleria, spotlighting hip collections; Hall of Jade Jewellery, showing jade pieces in a variety of colours; and Hall of Time, with its focus on brand watches and clocks.

Additional special product zones for the Hong Kong International Diamond, Gem & Pearl Show includes Hall of Fine Diamonds, Hall of Gems and Hall of Pearls, while the Hong Kong International Jewellery Show offers zones such as the Antique & Vintage Jewellery Galleria, Hall of Fame, Hall of Jade Jewellery, and World of Glamour.

A wealth of magnificent and elaborate jewels will be found in the various specific product zones such as Treasures of Nature at the Hong Kong International Diamond, Gem and Pearl Show, and the Hall of the Extraordinary and Design Galleria at the Hong Kong International Jewellery Show.

The appeal of these exquisite objects is eternal, as exemplified by the Mandaringarnet to be shown by Constantin Wild at Treasures of Nature; the pure garnet is over 100-carat, shining in a luscious autumn orange color. Another exhibitor in the same zone, Wilds Company Limited from Hong Kong, will also be showcasing a loose stone over 100-carat, named the Chrysoberyl Cat’s Eye.

Delicate finished jewellery products can be discovered at the Hong Kong International Jewellery Show. Euro Antique Inc. at Hall of Extraordinary displays a yellow and white diamond necklace, with 19 GIA certified yellow diamonds; the glamorous necklace weigh over 120-carat altogether. Meanwhile, an exquisite jewellery product, A Coronation, from Victoria Jewelry Design will be featured at the Design Galleria that focuses on trendy and innovative collections. The jadeite has combined lace into its design, which symbolizes nobility and grace.

Alongside with a great variety of seminars and networking events are organized throughout the fair period. Adding more glitz to the show, a series of seminars are designed to illuminate pathways for jewellery professionals to update the latest industry development and jewel trend. Paola De Luca, Creative Director and Forecaster of TRENDVISION Jewellery + Forecasting, will speak on “Trend Forecast Seasons 2015+: Consumer Attitudes, Focus on Jewellery and Diamond Products”.

Testing and certification are strongly related to consumer confidence in jewellery, a seminar on “How Accredited Testing and Certification Services Help to Enhance Your Product Competitiveness” offered to give jewellery traders insights. As the demand for gold had increased significantly, a seminar on “How to Enhance Consumer Confidence on Gold Jewellery and its Market Trend” hosted by Kent Wong, Assistant Chairman and Director of Social at the Hong Kong Jewellers’ & Goldsmiths’ Association to give some perceptions regarding this concerning topic.
