Maison & Objet highlights the latest trends and brands to watch within lifestyle, colour, materials, interior textiles and kids’ toys and product. The fair was abuzz with innovation this season, resulting in new materials, techniques and interactions. Pared-back, natural aesthetics were popular, while bright, optimistic colour options and bold prints cater to increasingly individual tastes. In the kids’ category, brands with durable products and a colour palette suited to modern interiors.

An inspiring rendez-vous for the industry professionals from the home decor, design, crafts and lifestyle sectors were able to get together, meet at Maison&Objet to exchange ideas, make discoveries and sense market trends. It was in a positive business climate once again that the doors of the decor, design and lifestyle fair, located at the Paris Nord Villepinte Exhibition Centre.

With an overarching concept of Showroom, the January 2018 edition of Maison & Objet Paris welcomed the visitors into an Inspirations Space and a Bookshop-Café designed by Vincent Grégoire of NellyRodi. A new generation of hyper-connected and hyper-informed consumers are reclaiming control: they are establishing their status as an inescapable partner for brands.

The second edition of Rising Talent Awards invited six of the most influential Italian design figures to nominate their own talent living and working in Italy. Andrea Branzi, Piero Lissoni, Luca Nichetto, Giulio Cappellini, Rossana Orlandi and Rosita Missoni nominated Federica Biasi, Antonio Facco, Marco Lavit Nicora, Kensaku Oshiro, Federico Peri and Guglielmo Poletti as Rising Talents defining the future of Italian design.

This year, Maison&Objet announced Cecilie Manz as The Designer of the Year, by showcasing her work in a space entirely designed by and dedicated to the Danish designer. After earning a diploma in object and furniture design from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in 1997, Manz moved to Finland to further her education at the University of Art and Design in Helsinki. The very next year, she founded her own studio in the heart of Copenhagen. Now in her 40s, the elegant Dane’s career spans twenty years as she patiently honed her skills to emerge today as one of the major figures of Scandinavian design.

Starting with the Hotel and Restaurant trade, for whom Maison&Objet had put together a dedicated itinerary taking in everything from furnishings and tableware to cookware, lighting, textiles and fragrances, all addressing that industry’s specific needs in terms of safety standards, accessibility, solidity, etc. The September trade fair featured an itinerary specifically tailored to their needs accompanied by a series of conferences to help them address the challenges of decorating, equipping and designing each zone. Something else that was new this time around was the opportunity for hoteliers, restaurateurs and interior designers to take part in over 300 business meetings with a selection of some hundred dedicated brands.

What Makes Maison et Objet special is its well-thought-out structure. The exhibition ground consists of two main areas (Maison and Objet), cleverly divided into sectors – 4 and 7 respectively. The ones that belong to Maison hub, are:

Craft section (Hall 5A) is devoted to handicraft and ornamental arts. Craft artists and manufacturers of various limited-edition pieces showcase their products here.
Unique & Eclectic section (Hall 5A and 6) is a place where patterns and motifs from all over the world meet. If you are looking for decorative elements or furniture that is really one of a kind, you’re most likely to find it in this section.
Today section (Hall 6) offers its visitors to immerse themselves into the atmosphere of creativity and avant-gardism. Here well-known designers and young promising talents display their sundry brainchildren side by side. The range of exhibits includes virtually everything related to contemporary lifestyle.
Forever section (Halls 7 and 8) unites producers of luxury items and creators of home fashion concepts. Style and elegance – that’s what all the items exhibited here have in common. Renowned brands, high-end pieces, sophisticated designs that never go out of fashion… No wonder that Bellavista Collection will showcase its exhibit items in this section, namely in Hall 7, Stand F126 / G125.

Objet hub sections offer a great variety of items, grouped into seven sections.
