As a large fair which to discover or rediscover talented artists, Art Capital with its new edition last from February 16 to 20, 2022 at the Temporary Grand Palais Éphémère. Art Capital is the yearly unmissable gathering for artists and talents in France. It enables to 2,000 artists to display their works, to inspire and be inspired as well. The Grand Palais Éphémère is to host Art Capital. For 5 days, you can discover the work of 2,000 artists (painters, sculptors, photographers, architects, engravers and so on…) at this great art fair. Open to the general public since 2006, the fair brings together artists from all different backgrounds and has become a reference point for the promotion of the current art scene. Art en Capitale strengthens links between the general public, the artists and the galleries.

Art Capital Paris included four leading shows, the Independent Artists Society, the Comparisons Show and the Drawing and Watercolor Painting Show team up from February 16 to 20, 2022 in the sophisticated atmosphere of the Temporary Grand Palais. Many different fairs are held as part of this event, including the Drawing and Water Painting Fair which presents works in pastel, charcoal, pencil, watercolour and even silk paper sculptures.

ART CAPITAL was born in 2006 from the desire of the so-called “Historic Grand Palais” Salons and artists from diverse backgrounds to play on their differences, to join forces to create a unifying and new event. In the historical tradition of artistic fairs, 4 fairs brought together for 15 years in ART CAPITAL make it possible to exhibit emerging or established artists.

Free, tolerant, united, didactic, dynamic, open, this one-of-a-kind event offers an exceptional and as complete a showcase as possible of today’s artistic production. These 4 emblematic Salons offer visitors, whether they are actors in the art world, gallery owners, collectors, professionals or the general public, a journey through today’s art, an encounter with the Artists and their creations, a walk at the very heart of current creation.

Painters, sculptors, engravers, visual artists, photographers, architects, from all walks of life, of all tendencies, confirmed talents as well as emerging talents, meet each year in the nave of the Grand Palais and in 2022: at the Grand Palais Éphémère. By welcoming 40,000 visitors each year, ART CAPITAL has established itself on the French art scene as a major event and remains the largest gathering of artists in France.

Exhibition
Art Capital was in fact born from the merger of four major fairs. The 30 groups that make up the Salon des Comparaisons, exhibiting their works and their respective sensibilities in a fraternal approach. Finally, the Salon des Indépendants will also be orchestrated, as well as the Drawing and Watercolor Salon.

Art Capital aims to be free, tolerant, united, didactic, dynamic and open, represents a superb way to get a foothold in the emerging art world and to find a new artistic crush. A springboard for young artists and a giant exhibition for visitors, painters, sculptors, engravers and other architects from all walks of life and backgrounds.

Salon of the Society of French Artists
From February 16 to 20, the Salon des Artistes Français inaugurates, as part of Art Capital, the calendar of major artistic events in 2022 in Paris. The 232nd edition of the Show will be held in the space dedicated to cultural events at the Grand Palais Ephémère on the Champ de Mars. This new opening to the public confirms the desire of the Salon des Artistes Français to remain connected to national and international contemporary artistic life, and thus promote recognized and emerging artists, professionals and amateurs. Free, spontaneous, supportive, voluntary, always active, always creative and talented, the artists of the Society of FRENCH ARTISTS today reflect the various trends in contemporary art.

In 1667, according to the wishes of Louis XIV, the Royal Academy organized an exhibition of its members at the Louvre. The Society of French Artists, direct heiress of this Salon created by Colbert for the King, has gone through all eras: royalty, empires, revolutions, wars, bringing in its wake the greatest names of artists who have marked these last centuries: Delacroix, Ingres, Manet, Rodin, Claudel, Bartholdi, Dufy, Picabia among others, were the members.

In 1881, it took its current name of Société des Artistes Français. The State delegates to it the task of organizing an annual Fine Arts exhibition and the responsibility of administering itself. Since 1901, every year, except for a few interruptions due to wars or works, the Salon has been held in Paris at the Grand Palais des Champs-Elysées. Today the Society of French Artists has several hundred members to which are added every year several hundred exhibitors at the time of the show.

Under the prestigious glass roof of the GRAND PALAIS in Paris, the Society of FRENCH ARTISTS, open to all: French and foreign artists, presents each year more than 650 international artists, admitted by a regularly renewed jury which selects them and distributes medals and private prizes. All artists exhibit their work directly to the public, without intermediaries, outside commercial circuits.

Salon of Drawing & Water Painting
As part of ART CAPITAL, the Salon du dessin et de la peinture à l’eau is an exhibition held every year in Paris and exclusively presents paintings on paper and paper sculptures, mainly in the field of contemporary art. This is the largest exhibition of works under glass in the world, no less than 900 works by 500 different artists await you in these 3000 m2.

Independent Artists Fair
Founded in 1884, the Association was recognized as being of public utility on March 30, 1923. The Society of Independent Artists emerged, after many adventures and adventures, from the Salon created by Louis XIV at the request of artists who wanted to present their works independently. They claim to freely present their works to the public. It was in the Siberian cold that the 1st Salon des Artistes Indépendants was inaugurated by Lucien Boué, President of the Paris City Council on December 1, 1884. Installed in the Polychrome Pavilion located near the Palais de l’Industrie, it became the refuge place of those works which has been Rejected.

Living Room Comparisons
As part of ART CAPITAL, Comparaisons presents its 30 groups, corresponding to as many sensibilities or trends in current art, and the public appreciates that they are thus confronted with styles, approaches or techniques.

The Salon Comparaisons was born in 1956, to turn its back on an intolerance contrary to what art should be, Comparaisons, from its first edition, was organized according to trends, each of them being presented within a group. And the confrontation became serene, fraternal even. Today, faithful to these principles, Comparaisons has 30 groups corresponding to as many sensitivities or trends in contemporary art.
