The Hong Kong Houseware Fair and Hong Kong International Home Textiles and Furnishings Fair, are twin trade fair organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, usually held in mid-April at the downtown location of the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Review of Houseware, Textiles and Furnishings Fair in 2015
The 30th edition of the HKTDC Hong Kong Houseware Fair and the 6th HKTDC Hong Kong International Home Textiles & Furnishings Fair, continue through April 20~23 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC). With around 2,400 exhibitors taking part. To cater to the growing demand, the fair present new product zones: Bath, Beauty & Healthcare; Festive Decor; Home Cleaning; Storage Solutions; and Wine Tools & Accessories.

As some of the traditional markets continue to recover gradually, attendance from Europe and the United States rebounded. In terms of product trends, most respondents expect simple designs to dominate the market this year, followed by trendy items and multi-functional products.

A special feature this year is a display at Hall 1B Entrance of the HKCEC which tells the story of the evolution of Hong Kong Houseware Fair over the past three decades, as well as that of the HKTDC Hong Kong Gifts & Premium Fair which also celebrates its 30th edition.

Returning to the fair this year be the Hall of Elegance with leading international brands from Austria (BWT), Canada (Knack3), Italy (TVS) and Spain (Vigar). Top brands also be on show in the World of Pet Supplies, Creative Arts & Cultural Craft and Best of ASEAN zones.

Concurrently held is the 6th HKTDC Hong Kong International Home Textiles and Furnishings Fair. Building on last year’s success, over 240 international exhibitors are expected to participate this year, featuring unique fabrics styles and craftsmanship of their respective places. Apart from the Chinese mainland and India, which are renowned for their high quality textiles, the fair also feature new exhibitors from Indonesia and New Zealand this year. New Indonesian exhibitor PT. Terry Palmer Indonesia bring the top quality Terry Towel made of Egyptian cotton.

Indonesia is represented at the fair for the first time, joining such major players in the home textile industry as the Chinese mainland and India. Buyers be able to find a full range of products, from basics to luxury and classic to contemporary with attractive solutions and specialist items.

A major highlight is the Hall of Glamour, which focuses on top-of-the range products with designer collections and branded products. Other zones cover Baby & Bedroom Textiles, Bathroom & Kitchen Textiles, Carpet & Floor Coverings, Design Solutions & Trade Services, and Upholstery & Furnishing Products.

Among the total of 22 product zones, five are newly introduced, namely “Bath, Beauty & Healthcare”, “Festive decor”, “Home Cleaning”, “Storage Solution” and “Wine Tools & Accessories”.

The most highlighted “Bath, Beauty & Healthcare” zone is divided into three product categories, each focusing on respective items, such as bathroom sets, mirrors and scales; skin care products and cosmetic tools for beauty; and aroma diffusers, fragrance, healthcare, tooth care products and the like.

The “Wine Tools & Accessories” zone showcase a broad variety of tools and utensils, such as decanters and bar sets; while the “Storage Solutions” feature trendy and top-quality items, including storage boxes and domestic storage system, facilitating to make the most out of limited space.

When it comes to cleaning a microwave oven, the stubborn stains can be a headache. Angry Mama Microwave Oven Cleaner presented by local exhibitor Alpha Home Group Limited can help remove the stubborn stain effortlessly by simply adding vinegar and water and heating it for five minutes. The stain be softened and wiped out easily. Another local exhibitor Wings Trading (HK) Company presents the Jumping Cherry Pitter which allows ladies to remove cherry pits elegantly without splashing the juice around.

A local oriental lifestyle design company ZENS Asia Limited collaborated with the world renowned BMW to present the first licensed BMW x ZENS Co-Brand Travel Tea Set. The set comes with a double wall tea pot and four cups, and the traditional blue and white design echoes the oriental spirit.

At the new Bath, Beauty & Healthcare zone, ID Infinity Limited brings along the award-winning dental floss holder Toothbat – WOW. The handle is equipped with “Twister technology”, a unidirectional rotation mechanism which can ensure sufficient flexibility of floss structure for better removal of food debris and plaques.

“World of Pet Supplies” is an ideal platform for sourcing from basic items to pampering products for pets. Pet supplies’ parades take place at the fairground, with animal “models” demonstrating exhibitors’ products.

Intelligent pet supplies definitely gain eyeballs. The Chinese mainland exhibitor Hangzhou Tianyuan Pet Products Factory presents the Dog IQ Training Toy, in which the treats are hidden beneath the colourful sticks. The dog has to move away them in order to find the hidden “treasure”. With the GPS Pet Trackers showcased by Dongguan Shenghong Webbing Co., Ltd, your pets can be tracked easily via website or simply on your smart gadget.

India is famous for handmade carpets. This year, Carpet Export Promotion Council from India newly joined the fair. Top quality Indian carpets be showcased, allowing buyers to source for the finest home textile products.

Local digital fabrics manufacturer 1A Manufacturing Ltd uses the latest digital technology, dye sublimation printing, to directly print the customized images on furniture. As the technology uses heat to transfer dye onto materials, the images are permanent and not peel or fade.

The Back Waist Cushion brought by local company Goldenrich Resources Trading Ltd emits the relaxing raspberry scent, which helps relieve the tiring body.

Review of Houseware, Textiles and Furnishings Fair in 2014
The 29th edition of the Hong Kong Houseware Fair and the 5th Hong Kong International Home Textiles and Furnishings Fair, held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre from April 20~23. Together, the two fairs hosted close to 2,300 exhibitors from 36 countries and regions and welcomed nearly 46,000 buyers.

The sourcing sentiment at the two fairs was positive, with good demand for green and trendy products. Buyers also continued to favour the trend toward “small and frequent orders.” This was underlined by the success of the fairs’ Small-Order Zone, which featured nearly 400 showcases offering some 4,000 products.

The fifth Home Textiles and Furnishings Fair features more than 220 exhibitors from seven countries and regions, including newcomers from the Czech Republic and Portugal. The fair also includes a pavilion from the Chinese mainland, as well as two from India: the Handloom Export Promotion Council and the Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts.

The new Design Solutions and Trade Services zone presents interior design and product design offerings. Other zones include Baby & Bedroom Textiles, Bathroom & Kitchen Textiles, Carpet & Floor Coverings, Upholstery & Furnishing, and Window Fashion & Accessories.

Fair highlights include three new zones: Avenue of Inspiration, presenting innovative houseware from Hong Kong start-up companies; Creative Arts & Cultural Craft; and Baby & Children’s Homeware.

The Hall of Elegance is back, with such brands as BWT (Austria), Happycall (South Korea), Metier (Hong Kong), Multiple Choice by Topchoice (Hong Kong), Thomas Pottery (Hong Kong) and Vigar (Spain).

Also returning are the World of Fine Décor, World of Fine Dining, the World of Pet Supplies and the Small-Order Zone. Other product zones include Green Living, Health & Wellness, Home Tech, Kitchenware & Gadgets and Outdoor Living. Special events include a range of product demonstrations, forums and seminars. Pet supplies are a show feature, with pet-supply parades.

In the Home Textiles and Furnishings Fair, the new Design Solutions and Trade Services zone present interior design and product design offerings. Review of Houseware, Textiles and Furnishings Fair in 2013
The 28th edition of Hong Kong Houseware Fair and the 4th Hong Kong International Home Textiles & Furnishings Fair, held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, welcomed a total of 45,000 buyers.

With the uncertainties in the European and US economies, buyers have become more cautious. Many Hong Kong exhibitors have to adjust their marketing strategies by expanding into emerging markets, offering small-quantity order and creating innovative products, etc., to stay competitive and capture more business opportunities.

This year’s fair featured a number of thematic zones, including the “World of Pet Supplies”, which gathered all kinds of pet supplies under one roof. Eyeing the enormous market potential of pet supplies, HKTDC organised the “Pet Supplies Industry Forum – Explore Business Opportunities in the Chinese mainland Market”. Industry experts were invited to look into the latest market trends and opportunities of pet supplies in the Chinese mainland, and analyse the difficulties domestic market is facing and the strategies to overcome.

The trend toward environmentally friendly products continue. More and more suppliers are ing to invest resources on eco-friendly manufacturing equipment, energy-saving products and green packaging.

Riding on last year’s success, the “My Favourite Homeware” award returned in 2013 to continue to promote innovatively designed houseware products and home textile furnishings. Buyers cast their votes online, and selected their favourite products in eight categories (Dining items, Bathroom items, Kitchen items, Living room & decorative items, Pet Supplies, Outdoor & Gardening products, Home Textiles and Furnishings and the New Homeware Award). The winning products were showcased at the fair. Product demos were held to introduce the products’ features to buyers during the fair period.
