Hong Kong Fashion Week 2012 Spring/Summer, China

The 19th Hong Kong Fashion Week for Spring/Summer, last from July 3-6, at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. The fair welcome more than 1,250 exhibitors from 21 countries and regions, brings together exhibitors from all over the world to showcase the latest brand designs and international fashion.

The fair features new product zones designed to attract visitors. They include 87 buying missions from 70 countries and regions, representing more than 4,600 buyers from over 3,000 companies.

The new theme zones, Fashion Jewellery Feast and Salon of Scarves & Shawls, help buyers source products effortlessly. Other product zones include Brand Name Gallery, Bridal & Evening Wear, Denim Arcade, Infant & Children’s Wear, International Fashion Designers’ Showcase and Intimate & Swim Wear.

To optimise buyers’ sourcing experiences, the fair is categorised into thematic zones to provide maximum showcase for different sectors of the industry, from garments, designer labels and upstream products, such as fabrics and clothing accessories, to trade services and new production technologies in fashion.

Hong Kong Fashion Week offering strong connections for great business opportunities and deals. The show was attended by many fashion professionals and industry leaders, which is conducive to attracting strategic partners.

Highlight events
Fashion Week special events include “Fashionally Collection” on the first day, in which a variety of finalists from the three most recent Hong Kong Young Fashion Designers’ Contest stage 11 fashion collections, while The Hong Kong Polytechnic University stage the MA Graduation Fashion Show 2012.

House shows on day two feature collections by international fashion designers from the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong and Singapore, as well as from the Hong Kong Apparel Society and The School of Continuing Professional Studies of the Chinese University of Hong Kong.

Young Hong Kong fashion talent got the opportunity to display their creativity at various house shows during the show period. Twelve students from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and eighteen from the School of Continuing Professional Studies at The Chinese University of Hong Kong wowed the audiences with their innovative ideas and stunning presentations in 72 outfits respectively.

A fashion show featuring winners of the EcoChic Design Award Hong Kong 2012 Grand Final, organised by Hong Kong-based Redress, take place 5 July. On the same day, A Brand Collections’ Show feature AFRIQUE, by Ika Butoni, and MaConsef S/S Collection 2013, by the Macau Productivity and Technology Transfer Centre.

Japan is also in the Fashion Week spotlight. The Kokusai Fashion Centre bring 12 fashion Japanese designers to Hong Kong.

International fashion parades was held each day, and make-up and hairstyle demonstrations by MAC Cosmetics and Tigi, respectively, will also take place. On day two, both the Hong Kong Apparel Society and the Foshan CCPIT Pavilion host after-show cocktail receptions.

Seminars
Seminars spotlight the latest market developments. On the first day, WGSN and Peclers Paris focus on fashion trends for spring/summer 2013 and beyond in two seminars.

Seminars on the second day look at global trends by Stylesight, on the topical issue of “Reducing Textile Waste Through Sustainable Design”, offered up a range of interesting propositions and ideas in the panel discussion. It was organised by Redress, which promotes environmental sustainability in the Asian fashion industry.

On the show’s third day, seminars was organised by the Hong Kong Accreditation Service (testing and certification), The Woolmark Company (merino trends for fall/winter 2013) and Fashion Snoops (fashion trends).

HKTDC
