Soviet typical project of cinemas

A typical project of cinemas (Типовой проект кинотеатров) is a project that built cinemas in different cities of the USSR.

The most well-known projects of district cinemas of large capacity are best known:

The Leningrad project
The first sample series:

Single-screen cinema with a wide screen in the form of a detached building with a capacity of 1060 seats. The project was developed in 1959 by architects OI Guriev, VM Fromzel and AP Chizh. The project was based on the project of the Moscow cinema ” Progress ” (authors E. Gelman, F. Novikov, I. Pokrovsky, engineer M. Krivitsky). On the first floor there is a foyer and technical rooms, the auditorium is on the second floor. Construction was carried out in the early 1960s. In total, 6 cinemas were built: Sputnik, Yunost, Cosmonaut, after the completion of the project – Vyborgsky, Zenit, Vesna (the architects of the latter were AV Zhuk and NN Fedorova).

Second sample series:

Single-screen cinema with a wide screen in the form of a separate building with a capacity of 1250 seats. The project was developed in 1963 by the team of Lenproject authors led by Viktor Belov (co-authors O. Vasilenko, I. Tregubov, V. Fromzel and L. Shimakovsky. The novelty of the project was the creation of a glass wall on the facade of the cinema (the idea was proposed by Alexander Gegello during construction the Gigant Theater in 1933. The form of the hall and the materials of the finish made it possible to achieve a good (by the standards of that time) quality of stereo sound.
