Hong Kong Food Expo 2015, China

Food Expo is the annual signature event in Hong Kong, a feast for foodies, by featuring a wide range of international and local delicacies, providing an ideal trading platform for exhibitors to showcase their latest products to international buyers, as well as featuring a wide variety of products for public visitors to choose from.

The 26th Hong Kong Food Expo, Hong Kong International Tea Fair, Home Delights Expo and the International Conference & Exhibition of the Modernization of Chinese Medicine & Health Products (ICMCM), open concurrently on 13 August 2015, at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.

This year, the well-received Home Delights Expo which was launched last year return with more excitement. Trade fairs in August every year for mass consumers and trade buyers to source a wide variety of products, to further enhance the shopping experience of the public, and provide a one-stop platform for industry players to create crossover business possibilities and exchange market knowledge.

The HKTDC organised 125 buying missions from 23 countries and regions to visit the Food Expo as well as the Hong Kong International Tea Fair and the International Conference & Exhibition of the Modernization of Chinese Medicine & Health Products. Some key retailers and agents such as 759 Store, City Super Ltd, FLM Fine Foods and Hong Kong TV Shopping Network Company Limited were invited to set up buyer booths, where pre-arranged business-matching sessions facilitated efficient connections between the buyers and quality exhibitors.

In addition to providing a trade platform for new products and services, the events also appeal to the general public with celebrities and experts lined up to share their expertise through cooking demonstrations, health seminars and business forums.

The 26th edition Hong Kong Food Expo attract more than 1,100 exhibitors coming from over 20 countries and regions, showcasing a wide range of international food and beverage for food lovers and trade buyers.

Cultures change from border to border, but great food is truly a universal language. Hong Kong is a convenient and ideal place to trade and do business while the expo is effective in drawing buyers every year. The Food Expo attracted a large number of visitors, including distributors, chefs and consumers all in one place to explore opportunities.

The annual Food Expo is a grand feast for food lovers, the Food Expo spotlight Hong Kong’s reputation as a business hub and lifestyle trendsetter in Asia. By bringing high-quality products and lifestyle solutions to consumers and trade buyers, each striving to help consumers enjoy a better and healthier lifestyle.

The fair provide a platform for sourcing and networking, creating business opportunities among different sectors. In addition to bringing an international gourmet feast to visitors, to enhance the cultural exchange between Hong Kong and other regions as well.

Exhibitors received a lot of sincere inquiries, purchases and cooperation agency intentions. The Expo provides a good stage to showcase products and raise the profile of regional local flavours, fine food and snacks.

Food Expo is divided into three sections including Trade Hall, Gourmet Zone and Public Hall. Trade Hall dedicated to trade buyers on the first two days for exploring business opportunities and sharing market intelligence. Exhibitors in the Trade Hall are manufacturers, wholesalers, suppliers, brokers and agencies with products for sampling and sourcing negotiation. This year, the Halal food zone was launched for the first time to showcase respective products.

Among the highlighted products are Pink Rose Bud, Pistachio, Blue Shrimp and Saffron. Meanwhile, the debut Food and Agricultural Technology Zone features six exhibitors showcasing innovative solutions to food production and consumption, such as food grade capsules for targeted drug delivery.

Also featured in the Hall are pavilions coming from around the globe such as Australia, the Chinese mainland, Indonesia, Iran, Japan, Korea, the Philippines, Poland and the USA, to showcase their local food and beverages to potential trade buyers. With such as international profile, the Food Expo’s Trade Hall is dedicated to provide a well-matched trading platform for worldwide buyers.

Ukraine joined the expo with a trade pavilion for the first time, with seven companies featuring local agricultural products. Another trade pavilion, the European Meat pavilion from Poland took part in successful business meetings during the fair, with one of their poultry exhibitors receiving an on-site order.

Gourmet Zone has been one of the key fair highlights which targets at visitors craving for high-end delicacies. The Zone gather more than 70 exhibitors which was categorised into four themes, namely Asian Cuisine, Chic & More, Sweet Delight and Western Delicacy. Moreover, some well-known celebrity chefs perform cooking demonstrations at the fairground.

Limpid True International Trading Ltd displayed its Vintage Fine Coffee from Indonesia. Their luxurious, vintage fine coffee were impressive. JS Korea Co., Ltd, a leading seafood supplier in Korea providing a variety of fresh, frozen and processed seafood products, has been participating in the Food Expo for many years.

The Public Hall is the platform for exhibitors to collect public response and preferences. The Premium Food Zone features an array of popular local brands including Chewy, Kee Wah Bakery, Maxim’s Caterers, Nissin, On Kee Dry Seafood, Taipan Bread & Cakes, Tung Chun and Vita Green Health Products.

Apart from local brands, the Public Hall feature global banquet coming from various pavilions including Canada, the Chinese mainland, Chinese Taiwan, Japan, Korea, Malaysia and the Philippines.

A series of special events was organised to present a fascinating food experience to visitors, which include sharing by renowned food reviewers, lucky draw, interactive games and seminars on food industry topics.

Hong Kong Tea Fair 2015
The 7th edition of the Hong Kong International Tea Fair gather more than 200 exhibitors coming from various countries and regions, including some of the major tea production centers including the Chinese mainland, Japan and Sri Lanka.

Hong Kong International Tea Fair has been the premier event in the tea industry. Exhibitors take this chance to present their precious tea products and introduce their tea culture to visitors. The major product categories include tea, tea packaging, tea processing equipment and testing service, tea ware, tea craft and tea technology. Visitors can also enjoy tea-food pairing experience at the Friends of Tea zone, where bakery products, snacks and biscuits was provided.

A series of activities was held to promote tea culture at the Fair. The International Tea Competition 2015 gather exhibitors from different categories to compete for awards, including Black Tea, Pu’er Tea, Aged Tea, Green Tea, Oolong Tea and Others such as White Tea, Yellow Tea and Scented Tea, etc. (excluding Herbal Tea). A panel of professional judges, including internationally renowned tea experts, will review the tea entries through blind-tasting.

Another signature event is the International KamCha Competition (Hong Kong-Style Milk Tea) International Final. It take place on 15 August for Hong Kong and regional champions from Guangzhou, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Sydney and Toronto to battle for the winning title.

Other show highlights are the International Tea Art Performances, Tea Tasting sessions, seminars and forum conducted by industry experts to discuss tea-related topics and culture.

ICMCM 2015
Co-organised by the HKTDC and the Modernized Chinese Medicine International Association Ltd, this year’s ICMCM features more than 110 exhibitors from nine countries and regions. Demonstrating the international appeal of Traditional Chinese Medicine, exhibitors from as far afield as France and the United States join the fair, alongside a strong contingent from East Asia.

A two-day heavyweight ICMCM Conference (13-14 Aug) discussing “CM Research & Commercialization on Cardiovascular Diseases” provide a platform for experts to share their insights on the subject. Meanwhile, Hong Kong Baptist University is the co-organiser of the 11th International Postgraduate Symposium on Chinese Medicine (14 Aug). Complementing these events was an Exhibitor Forum featuring new products and services as well as a seminar on testing and certification procedures for Chinese medicine.

Public ticket-holders are invited to attend the ICMCM’s Chinese Medicine Health Public Forum on 15 August while, throughout the day, events are organised to highlight various aspects of Traditional Chinese Medicine as well as some of the latest products in the market.
