The Museum displays over 1500 examples of luxury women’s shoes, dating from 1947 to the present day. The models were designed and produced by Rossimoda for the most prestigious international designers. A precious collection of nineteenth century Venetian footwear is also on show. The exhibition traces the progress of the company over the years, testifying to the local skills and knowledge of the Riviera del Brenta shoemaking district.
The Christian Dior collection

Christian Dior was born in Granville in 1905. Tailor and stylist of the most important French haute couture, he became famous for the New Look, which on the 12th of February 1947 made him famous all over the world in only one day. To decide his fate was the meeting with Marcel Boussac, the French textile magnate. In 1946, thanks to Boussac’s financial support, Dior opened his own maison in Avenue Montaigne palace, a charming location where twice a year were produced dresses up to 40 meters wide and 4 kilos heavy. In 1958 “Trapezoid” collection had Yves Saint Laurent’s sign, who was Dior’s assistant and his coming heir, opening his own maison in 1962. Talking about shoes, the maison’s collaboration with the French fashion stylist Roger Vivier, from 1953 to 1963, was fundamental: the shoes exposed in these cases of the Shoe Museum are some examples of this partnership.
The Ungaro collection

Emanuel Ungaro is a French (1933) stylist of Italian origin. After an experience at the Balenciaga fashion house, in ’65 he decided to start his own business. The seduction of its collections relies on bright colors and beautiful floral patterns which, expertly draped, are transformed into dream dresses and shoes.
The Kenzō collection
Produced from 2004 to 2013.
The artist Kenzō Takada, after his education at Tokyo fashion school, came to Paris in 1965 and only five years later he opened his first boutique. Shapes, materials and drawings typical of Japan are harmoniously mixed with the European style, joining the approval of the whole world of fashion. In 1999, at the age of sixty years Kenzō announced farewell to fashion, in order to give “a new direction to his life”. The fashion house belongs to the LVMH Group since 1993.
The Christian Lacroix collection
Produced from 2001 to 2009. French designer decidedly against the current. After collaborating with Hérmes and Patou, in 1987 he founded the Christian Lacroix fashion house. lover of theatricality, he emphasizes all that is sensual, cheerful, opulent, recovering the values of Mediterranean culture, especially the traditions and customs of southern France and Provence. Footwear Museum of Villa Foscarini Rossi
The Rossimoda museum of footwear is located in the main villa of the seventeenth-century architectural complex Villa Foscarini Rossi in Stra along the Riviera del Brenta in the province of Venice. The museum deals with footwear and costume history and collects a collection of over 1700 models of luxury women’s shoes, produced by the shoe factory of the same name in collaboration with high fashion houses.
The museum is one of the few Italian museums dedicated to footwear. It is reviewed in the repertoires of corporate museums and considered relevant in its specificity .
It preserves more than 1700 models, the majority of which testify to the company’s collaboration with stylists from all over the world. .

Pieces representative of the company’s history, the historical period and the social context or because they are remarkable from a technical and artisan point of view are exhibited.
The minimalism of American designers such as Donna Karan, Marc by Marc Jacobs and Porsche is represented on the ground floor, while the products of Mediterranean designers such as Emilio Pucci, Yves Saint Laurent, Givenchy, Dior, Roger Vivier, Fendi, Lacroix are visible on the upper floor., Céline and Kenzo, having more space given the longevity of their collaborations with the company.
To the footwear models are added prints, sketches and sculptures from the private art collection of Luigino Rossi: the original sketches by Christian Lacroix and Karl Lagerfeld, the reproductions of the prints by Andy Warhol, and the cartes de vœux by Yves Saint Laurent.
