Tachibana Museum, Yanagawa-shi, Japan

Tachibana museum(立花家史料館) houses Daimyo who ruled Yanagawa through the Edo period, arts and crafts that are transferred to the Tachibana family. In 1945, “Flower History Material Museum” was established, we have made exhibitions of Daimyo tools in the house of Yanagawa Doma Tachibana House “Oka”. In 1994, as a facility more suitable for exhibiting valuable cultural assets, “Flower museum” was newly opened, and in February 2011 the name “Tachibana Historical Museum” was renamed. From December 3, 2013, the Tachibana Foundation of the foundation took over from the Mika flower company which was the parent of the previous operation. On December 1, Heisei 20, we got certified as a public benefit foundation corporation from Governor of Fukuoka prefecture and started as “Taikan Foundation foundation foundation”.

Tachibana museum displays a rich variety of items that convey the history of the Tachibana family: from a suit of armor that once belonged to family ancestor and first feudal lord of Yanagawa, Muneshige Tachibana, to gold and silver lacquer dispatch boxes, cosmetic utensils and Noh theater costumes. The museum also houses a collection of elaborate Edo period dolls, which were loved by successive generations of young Tachibana heiresses. Such a collection is rarely seen even in Japan. Exhibits are rotated throughout the different seasons.

The collections are mainly the art and crafts descended from the Tachibana family: they include approximately 5,000 items of furnishings, one piece of national treasure, one piece of important cultural property, and others. These are the valuable assets which have been accumulated and inherited continuously over 400 years since the founder Tachibana Muneshige.

The hotel houses artistic crafts of the Tachibana family from Yanagawa Domaine era era and modern era era era. Approximately 5,000 artistic crafts including one national treasure and one important cultural property are valuable histories that were formed over a long period of time more than 400 years from the birth of modern Daimyo Tachibana family to the present, It is also historical material.

Many of the arts and crafts held by the former Daimyo family are lost during the Meiji Restoration and the chaotic period after the Second World War, and there are not so many examples where collections are maintained in a collective form until today. In the case of the Tachibana family, the tools of each of the Daimyo and Earl’s eras have been partially lost. However, it can be said that the quality and quantity of the historical material being conveyed up to now is at a high level that tells the lives of the Daimyo and Earls.

It is the greatest appeal of Tachibana family history materials that it is possible to reproduce the dynamism of history by not only the value as individual arts and crafts but also their connection.
